The Louisiana State Police are increasing patrols during the winter storm.
A spokesperson said the state police are doubling their staff and their hourly shifts to keep an eye out for icy conditions on roads and bridges.
Troopers will place barricades to block areas that are unsafe because of ice. It's not only dangerous to drive in these closed-off areas, it's illegal as well.
State police are advising drivers to slow down, allow extra time to get where you're going, and don't follow other vehicles too closely.
