Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's dance anthem, "Rain on Me," made history at the 2021 Grammys and the latter was quick to acknowledge the honor while Mother Monster was asleep.
After the Chromatica smash bested the competition in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, beating the likes of "Un Dia (One Day)" (J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Tainy), "Intentions" (Justin Bieber featuring Quavo), "Dynamite" (BTS) and "Exile" (Taylor Swift featuring Bon Iver), Grande took to social media to celebrate the victory. "MOTHER MONSTER WAKE UP @ladygaga !!!!!!??………" the pop titan captioned a photo of a tweet announcing the win. The victory makes "Rain on Me" the first all-female song to conquer the category at the Grammys.
"Eternally, deeply grateful for u, for this experience, to have been a part of this song and this celebration of healing and recovery. grateful to be able to dance in the rain with u, to call u my dear friend, and to now share this. beyond thankful. congratulations queen, ti voglio bene," Grande continued.
She followed up the message by sharing a screen capture of Gaga seemingly sleeping during the win. The star is currently in Italy as she films House of Gucci, her upcoming film with Adam Driver. To-date, "Rain on Me" has scored wins at the 2020 MTV Millennial Awards Brazil, 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, 2020 MTV Video Play Awards and 2020 NRJ Music Awards.
