Is there a kid “gender pay gap”?

If you have only sons then you may have a bit more in your bank account than someone with daughters. New research has found Two thirds of parents have noticed a kids ‘gender pay gap’ with stores charging more for almost identical items depending on whether it is targeted at girls or boys. The differences start as early as clothing for 1 year olds. For example a jacket in blue and green stripes cost $18 while the same jacket in pink cost $24 at the same store. Clothing wasn’t the only gender gap found. Roller skates in blue were for $14 while in pink they went up to $20. On average, girls’ items were priced at 21 per cent higher than the equivalent item for boys. Wow, expect to see a few bows attached to some cute little blue stuff in the future.
