How bright is your office? It could affect your ability to remember and learn.
Michigan State University conducted research on bright or dim lighting effects. The dim light was designed to mimic that of 'typical indoor lighting' and after 4 weeks of exposure it resulted in diminished learning and memory performance. The scientists found rodents exposed to dim light lost about 30 per cent of capacity in their hippocampus. The study author summed it up with, ‘dim lights are producing dimwits.’ Good news from the study was that 4 weeks exposure to natural light could return the full brain abilities.
