Slow Cooker Cocktails are a thing this year…

Warm cocktails are not new as Mulled wine has been around for ages but there have been some twists added to the warm fuzzy cocktails. This recipe with its touch of bourbon seemed like a natural choice for a South Louisiana Christmas!

The Bourbon Citrus Sipper

6cups apple cider or apple juice (48 ounces)

large naval orange, sliced

medium lemon, sliced

¼ cup sugar

sticks of cinnamon

whole cloves

½ tsp of anise seeds (optional)

Bourbon

Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 3- 4 hours or on high-heat setting for 2 hours. Add orange and lemon slices. Cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes.

Use a slotted spoon to remove orange slices, lemon slice, and whole spices, and turn the slow cooker to its warm setting.

Just before serving, add the Bourbon to individual mugs and then add cider mixer!
