Watching TV ‘doubles our chance of a blood clot’: People who exercise regularly but watch TV ‘very often’ are at twice the risk of those who don’t!
Only about 25 per cent of blood clot risk is explained by obesity. Researchers say the danger is truly increased by inactivity. Meaning even people who get recommended levels of physical activity are at risk of getting a blood clot while watching TV. The study notes: ‘Watching TV itself isn’t likely bad, but we tend to snack and sit still for prolonged periods while watching.’ They recommend we get on treadmills or stationary bikes to allow for activity while watching. Another tip, don’t skip the commercials. Use them as timers to get up and move around.
