The trend of going sockless puts the stylish 'at risk of athlete’s foot', warns experts.

More men are being affected by the condition after following the style.

A foot makes half a pint of sweat a day with more glands than any other body part.

The typical lining of shoes does not absorb that fluid and therefore allows bacteria to grow.

Many shoes may cloth uppers but are lined in synthetic material, which is not breathable. If the lining is not breathable then moisture, heat and bacteria will be trapped inside the shoe.

Yep the same bacteria that gives some cheese a stinky smell are thriving on our feet and in our shoes.
