PODCAST-How To Interact With People In Wheelchairs-From My Daughter Erika
This podcast with Erika - and my wife Melanie - is a follow-up to a previous blog I wrote to help people how to engage with people in wheelchairs. Here's the podcast intro from Erika's heart:
My name is Erika Sanders, and I had an unexpected stroke at the age of 21 that almost took my life. The stroke affected many of my motor skills, along with my speech. I had years of physical therapy, but the only walking I was ever able to do was with assistance, and then for only short distances. So, a motorized wheelchair became my choice for me to get around. At the request of my “bonus” dad, I am offering some hints on how to interact with me when we meet. This is good advice for most everyone you meet who is in a chair. Don't feel awkward. Just listen to the podcast and see.
