WATCH: Would YOU Swim In This Pool Hanging over a 2,000 Foot Cliff?
As an architect, my dad came up with some creative plans for local businesses and churches. "Mr. Floyd" was one of the early pioneers of the oval style church buildings that are quite common today. Cutting edge stuff in the early 70's. But never in his wildest dreams would have him come up with something like THIS!
The proposed Norway hotel project, dubbed the “Cliff Concept Boutique Hotel,” imagines a structure built just under the plateau of the Preikestolen. The Hayti Atak Architectural Design Studio shows the building with at least four floors built into the Preikestolen, with three balconies protruding over the 2,000 foot cliff. The fourth shows the lap pool hanging WAY out there. In the category of daring designs, there's quite a drop-off in the competition for craziness.
Some in social media are excited, while others aren't exactly jumping at the chance. I guess they want to see how strong the pool's cables are. My brother-also an architect and college professor at LA Tech- would be concerned about the "structural integrity." Ya think?
