Watching this America's Got Talent YouTube clip, I got a slight case of contestant deja vu all over again as a young southern singer took the stage to sing. Polite, humble, and very talented. And don't forget the southern accent. It's kinda like a guy we know very well in South Louisiana, Laine Hardy.
Enter now an America's Got Talent contestant, 12 year-old Ansley Burns from Easley, South Carolina. The preteen became an online sensation last year, singing Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty. Accolades came from all over, including from Carrie herself.
Laine Hardy has shown much of his influence coming from the King Of Rock and Roll, Elvis. For Ansley, she gravitated toward the Queen of Soul, taking on Aretha Franklin's Think. Then, right in the middle of her singing, something very unexpected happened. Judge Simon Cowell abruptly stopped the performance, telling her "it was a horrible horrible backing track." The audience was stunned and went silent for several seconds. I mean, she was clearly an amazing talent.
What happened after this very awkward moment was pure magic. This young southern performer showed she was EXTREMELY cool under a lot of pressure. Just like another singer we know. You can watch this amazing story below, and her entire AGT performance and results on NBC Local 33 tomorrow night.
