Catholic High Grad Becomes New LSU Athletic Director. What's He Sayin'?

Joe Alleva is out and LSU alumnus and now former Texas A & M Athletic Director Scott Woodward is in. The announcement was made yesterday as LSU's Athletic Director Joe Alleva stepped down about 24 hours earlier. Those in the sports world said pretty much the same thing. Paraphrased: "That didn't take long." But no one was surprised.

The new AD has strong Baton Rouge ties, as he attended Catholic High School. Woodward graduated from LSU in 1985, and later served as LSU’s Director of External Affairs from 2000-2004. After that time at LSU, Woodward served as the Vice President of External Affairs at the University of Washington, prior to being named Director of Athletics in 2008. The new AD be formally welcomed at a news conference this Tuesday.

“Returning home to the LSU family to lead the Department of Athletics is incredibly humbling and exciting,” Woodward said. “The State University has been a part of my life for more than five decades, and I know – and I embrace – the high expectations of Tiger Nation. We will win championships and we will do it the right way, representing LSU with pride and dignity every step of the way. I want to thank President Alexander for the opportunity of a lifetime and I cannot wait to get started--

Geaux Tigers!

Those last two Fightin' Tiger words are probably not being well-received at Texas A & M. To say the least.
