Old school ways to boost your immune system this flu season! The modern flu shot shouldn’t be ignored but in addition to that here are some other ways to boost your body’s defenses.
- Sage and Elderberry- Sage has anti-bacterial properties and the botanical elderberry helps to strengthen the respiratory tract. Sage is easy enough to add to your meals or teas, you can add elderberry syrup to a smoothie or any sweet treat.
- Eat Colorfully- Berries, dark green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, sweetcorn, oranges, sweet potato, beetroot, watermelon…just to name a few. The variety of brightly colored fruits and veggies keeps you covered on a wide range of nutrients. (juice them if you have to.)
- Spicy Soups! –Veggie soups are best but a warm chicken soup with plenty of herbs can warm-up your immune functions!
- A,C, and D vitamins-On this one you have to be careful as only C doesn’t build up. A and D can build up but, if you’re low they can really mess with you too. Check with your doctor especially if you are planning to get them through supplements.
