The ten 'critical' questions all couples should ask of each other before embarking on a serious relationship. After interviewing married couples and divorced couples they found couples who had good relationships and were friends before their romance began they were the most likely to last. As for how most relationships broke down it seemed as though parenthood and financial pressures topped the list.
The 10 questions to ask yourself before getting married…
Are my partner and I a ‘good fit’?
Do we have a strong friendship?
Do we see the best in each other?
Are our expectations realistic?
Can we easily discuss issues with each other?
Do we keep our relationship vibrant?
Are we both committed to working through hard times?
Would we pull together to get through stressful circumstances?
Do we each have supportive others around us?
Do we want the same things in our relationship and out of life?
(Margie’s note: Dating isn’t as good as it gets but it is as easy as most relationships get. If that is the case, are you still up for the challenges that will be ahead in your married life?)
