Prince's Estate Demands Trump to Cease Playing 'Purple Rain' at Rallies

When video footage of Donald Trump using Prince's iconic 1984 hit "Purple Rain" at one of his rallies in Mississippi last week started making the rounds on the Internet, the late star's estate caught wind of the usage and were less than pleased.

As the Star Tribune reportslongtime Prince associate Jeremiah “Dr. Funkenberry” Freed tweeted a statement on Thursday that The Purple One's half-brother Omarr Baker later wrote on his account.

“The Prince Estate has never given permission to President Trump or the White House to use Prince’s songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately,” the statement read.

It is unclear whether the estate filed an actual cease and desist notice to ensure the president stops using Prince's music at his rallies.

Prince's estate is the latest in a long list of artists who have requested Trump to stop playing their music at his rallies. The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Aerosmith and more have demanded his team to stop employing their music during rallies, dating back to when he was campaigning as the Republican presidential candidate.

Considering Prince's secret plan to support the Black Lives Matter movement before his untimely death, he would not be happy about the current administration using his music.
