President Donald Trump says his pick for homeland security secretary is tremendously qualified and talented. Trump is nominating Kirstjen Nielsen to replace John Kelly, who is now the White House chief of staff. In a White House ceremony yesterday, Trump said Nielsen will help keep the U.S. safe and secure. He called on the Senate to set partisan politics aside and quickly confirm Nielsen.
Nielsen was Kelly's top deputy at the Department of Homeland Security and followed him to the White House.
