Donald Trump Expected To Be In BR Friday

Scotty Mac

When I was in high school, my dad asked me what I wanted to do. “Dad, I want to work in radio as a DJ.” (Brief pause.) “Well, I guess that’s a OK place to start,” he said. That was MANY years ago, and I guess I’m still “starting.” After graduating LSU, my Baton Rouge radio career began in the 80’s with iHeartmedia’s #1 hit music station, WFMF. It was an awesome time doing afternoons, but it was only the beginning. Even though I was “called up” to some bigger markets like New Orleans, San Antonio and Houston, I later discovered there’s no place else for a Baton Rouge boy to be, than IN Baton Rouge. The cool thing about coming back to radio here was the young WFMF audience with me in the 80’s matured, so bringing my afternoon show to the 96.1 With Today’s Best Variety of songs, it was a perfect fit. It’s been that way for over ten years now. Two years ago, I gave my listeners some lagniappe. (For those of you from outside the state, it’s pronounced “LAN yap” which means a little something extra that is freely given.) I now start the day on Downtown Radio 97.7, which gives listeners to the best variety of 60’s, 70’s and 80’s (AND your Beatles station-my 17 year-old daughter told me I should say that!)Here in “Big BR,” I have my four amazing kids from grown, down to 11, AND my alma mater is here, so I can say “Geaux TIGERS” … a LOT! I enjoy working with my wife on restoring the oldest house in Abita Springs on weekends, and I even get to blow my own horn…literally -- which is a trombone. Every year, this ol’ former Golden Band From Tigerland member gets to march with LSU Alumni Band in Tiger Stadium once a year. It is SUCH a rush to hear that world-famous Tiger roar of the crowd! I truly have a blessed life to be in Baton Rouge with family and friends, AND sharing our unique South Louisiana life with our listeners on air and on my daily blogs. It reminds me of what singer Marc Anthony once said: “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Thanks for reading. AND listening!
