DOGS LIKE GOING TO THE KENNEL: You no longer have to feel bad about leaving your dog in the care of a kennel when you go on vacation. A new study finds that dogs enjoy spending a short time in a kennel in the same way humans enjoy going away in vacation. British researchers measured the stress symptoms of 29 dogs both at their homes and in a private boarding kennel. They found dogs had higher levels or arousal, colder noses and were generally more active in kennels than when they were at home. Researcher Dr. Lisa Collins says, "The findings appear to suggest that the dogs in this study did not perceive admission to boarding kennels as an averse stressor and perhaps, instead, perceived kenneling as an exciting change of scene, at least in the short-term." (Daily Mail)
